Janna Bernstein and Charley Hood

Time and the Mississippi Delta

preview location: 2282 Madison Avenue | Howard Hall

artist statement
Time and the Mississippi Delta incorporates two doors, a pair of wall brackets and an reproduction glass door knob. The back of the bench is painted with images of aerial views of the Delta. The Delta has always had it’s own pace – it is the greatest gift we have: “time.” I don’t know where I found the quote – I tried to find out who said it and got so many random answers, I decide that it, like the Mississippi River, is a gift. The bench will also include a bird’s nest and a watch which no longer keeps time. When we sit on a bench and separate ourselves from life’s hustle and bustle, should we measure time or just enjoy?
