2008 Youth and Architecture Competition
Sponsored by AIA Memphis and Memphis Heritage, Inc.

Each year students throughout the community are invited to participate on their own or through their classroom to learn more about the built environment around them, and have the opportunity to showcase their findings through the arts. Participants are asked to explore the historic buildings and spaces around them through an art medium of their choice. In addition, participants submit a short essay describing why they chose the building/space and how they feel about the historic subject they chose. Projects are turned in throughout the year and in May during Preservation Month they are judged by architects and artists and placed on display.

A special reception will honor the students and teachers, and will include the announcement of the 2008 winners:

Move Towards Integrated Project Delivery with New AIA Contract Documents
Webinar Site Hosted by AIA Memphis
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a project delivery approach that integrates people, systems, business structures, and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the owner, and reduce waste and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction. To help AIA members use IPD successfully, the Institute has made available a number of state-of-the-art practice tools, including the 2007 Integrated Project Delivery Guide, developed by the AIA and AIA California Council. The AIA also published standard forms to allow contracting parties to share digital data in accordance with agreed-upon protocols for transmission, format, and use of the data. On May 15, the AIA released the Institute’s first-ever agreements for integrated project delivery. This Webinar is designed to help you navigate through the new IPD documents.
Learning objectives: Participants will understand the fundamental concepts of integrated project delivery; review integrated practice business models and delivery methods; discover how AIA Contract Documents address integrated project delivery; identify the ways that digital practice documents can manage the expectations of project participants.
Presenters: Robert Middlebrooks, AIA, and Brad Milton, AIA, serve on the AIA Documents Committee and were involved integrally in the AIA’s 2007 update, drafting the Integrated Project Delivery Guide, and Integrated Project Delivery agreements. They will share details of the development of the new agreements as well as highlights of the documents. They also will highlight features of the AIA’s digital practice documents.
