Amber Fournier
Former Life of a Door

preview location: 431 South Main | See the Difference Interiors

artist statement
In the beginning, the concept was to create a “tree” with the door. As the door was scraped, deconstructed, and hardware removed, it began to reveal what it wanted to become. Design evolved during each step in the process as the nature of the door was uncovered. The door was transformed into a frame containing a silhouette of its own former life as a tree. All the visible wood on this project, as well as the glass, came from the original door.
