Weather and environmental conditions play a fundamental role in shaping how buildings are designed, constructed, and experienced. This course examines how architects can respond to climate, site conditions, and environmental forces to create buildings that are durable, comfortable, and responsive to their surroundings. Using examples from the Gulf South and comparable regions, the session will explore strategies for addressing heat, humidity, storms, flooding, and long-term climate patterns.
AIA Memphis' 2026 Design Auction (Saturday, April 18) will feature a silent auction in addition to great company, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and drinks. This year our auction Icon Items will be paired with custom, original paintings by local artists. These paintings, inspired by the Icon items, will be displayed next to the items, and included in the auction.
