High Ground

A Presentation by Madison and Mark Talley, founding partners of Tall Architects

Weather and environmental conditions play a fundamental role in shaping how buildings are designed, constructed, and experienced. This course examines how architects can respond to climate, site conditions, and environmental forces to create buildings that are durable, comfortable, and responsive to their surroundings. Using examples from the Gulf South and comparable regions, the session will explore strategies for addressing heat, humidity, storms, flooding, and long-term climate patterns. Emphasis will be placed on how thoughtful environmental design improves occupant health and safety, enhances building performance, and supports resilient, context-driven architecture.
